8th (Volunteer) Battalion The Queen's Fusiliers (City of London)

Formed 16 May 1988 with Headquarters at St John's Hill, Clapham, London belonging to both The Queen's Regiment and The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and taking precedence after 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion The Queen's Regiment.

COMPANIES:
HQ (Gazala) Company at Battersea.
A (Highwood) Company at Camberwell. Formed by redesignation of 'D' Company 6th/7th Battalion.
B (Albuhera) Company at Hornsey with Pltn at Edgware. Formed by redesignation of 'B' Company 6th/7th Battalion.
C (City of London) Company at Balham and St Mary Cray. Formed by redesignation of 'C' Company 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

1 April 1992: 'D' (London Irish Rifles) Company formed at Chelsea, London by transfer of 'D' Company 4th Battalion The Royal Irish Rangers.
 

20 April 1993: Battalion disbanded as result of Options for Change to form The London Regiment.
'HQ' Company, 'B' Company and 'D' Company redesignated as 'HQ' Company, 'B' Company and 'D' Company The London Regiment;
'A' Company and 'C' Company amalgamated to form 'C' Company The London Regiment.
